Kids Keep Sheffield Streets and Green Space Clean

Whilst most children are out and about preparing for Halloween a group of young children from Sheffield’s award winning Pitsmoor Adventure  Playground took an unusual approach to kick start their cultural celebrations by having a massive litter pick. The children from the Burngreave ward took direct action on their local streets after becoming fed up with people dropping litter and dumping rubbish. Alex aged 9 said “It’s horrible and its dirty I don’t like it, they should put rubbish in their bins.”
Patrick Meleady charity manager and Sheffield Green spaces Forum member said “There are some very irresponsible and inconsiderate people out there who need to think carefully about the environmental impact they are having on our community, our children have yet again cleaned up and done an amazing job, but they are fed up having to live with constant litter dropping and rubbish being left on their doorsteps.”
