Pitsmoor Adventure Playground win Anti-litter art campaign competition

During the February half-term holiday, 7 Pitsmoor Adventure Playground children were invited to meet the Lord Mayor, after winning an art competition. The children were presented with certificates, prizes and a tour around the Lord Mayor’s Parlour.

Yanina (chair of Pitsmoor Adventure Playground) said:”Our children looked forward to meeting the Lord Mayor. However, some were a little nervous at first at being invited into the Lord Mayor’s Parlour at the Town Hall, but they needn’t have worried as they were made very welcome. We would like to thank the Lord Mayor for her recognition of the children’s contribution towards keeping Sheffield clean and litter free. The children enjoyed their meeting with the Lord Mayor, our local councillors and other council members.”

The event emphasised the importance of the playground and its dedicated staff who each day help to build a resilient and thriving community. None of which would be possible without the newest qualified team member’s hard work – Ivana. Patrick Meleady (centre manager) said: “Ivana has worked tremendously hard over the last year to secure a nationally recognised play work qualification. We are all really proud of Ivana and are delighted to have her working as part of our award winning team on a permanent basis at the adventure playground, she is amazing!”

The childrens’ art-work can be viewed on our local bins.
